Cazadero

Perched in a valley in the hills above the Russian River watershed, nestled along the flowing waters of Austin Creek and shaded by towering redwoods, the tiny community of Cazadero offers both small-town and outdoor delights in Sonoma County. Step back in time on the beautifully worn wooden floors of the 100-year-old Cazadero General Store, which stocks an array of everyday and luxury items. Join the many pilgrims who travel to Caz — as it’s known by the locals — to taste the focaccia, artisan breads, cakes, tarts, scones and other baked delights at the renowned Raymond’s Bakery & Bed and Breakfast. Remember that Friday night at Raymond’s means live music and wood-fired pizza.

Recall Cazadero’s past as a vibrant lumber town by watching redwoods being processed through Berry’s Saw Mill, a family-owned operation that cuts sustainably-managed timber. Play tennis or basketball on the courts in downtown Caz, directly across from the local fire department. Bring your bicycle and explore the many peaceful but challenging roads that lead off the main streets. Almost all the major bicycle tours that come through Sonoma County head through Cazadero, including Levi’s Grand Fondo and the Tour of California.
